CoMPaSS-NMD Young Investigation Training initiative

CoMPaSS-NMD Young Investigation Training Series

The CoMPaSS-NMD (Computational Models for new Patient Stratification Strategies of Neuro Muscular Disorders) project aims to develop computational approaches that foster advanced patient stratification procedures necessary for diagnosis and trial preparation.

The Young Investigator Training (YIT) initiative was created within the CoMPaSS-NMD framework with education and training purposes contributing to the scientific exchange between young researchers. The idea behind the program is to guarantee high-quality clinical assessments conducted by qualified clinicians. Secondly, it seeks to attract and unite young researchers in NMD field. By training them in a novel, multimodal, and multidisciplinary approach (encompassing clinical practice, bioinformatics, imaging, histology, genetics, data mining, and dissemination), we can equip them to address the needs of a new generation of NMD patients.

The YIT webinar series will equip you with the latest techniques to dramatically improve your efficiency in patient clinical evaluation and data collection. Stay ahead of the curve in NMD research and empower yourself to deliver exceptional care.
A certificate of succesful participation will be released upon conclusion of the tutorial session demonstrating a complete eCRF examination on a healthy control. The certificate will grant trainees the priority to attend the Autumn School organised within the YIT framework.

What is on the agenda?

What is on the agenda?

The YIT series is offering a program of webinars scheduled between July 2024 and April 2026.

The YIT series kicks off with a two-part webinar on using the electronic Structured Case Report Form (eSCRF) developed in CoMPaSS-NMD and the related phenotype ontology. The training session will provide users with a valuable opportunity to benchmark their professional skills against consensus assessments. Additionally, they will gain access to a comprehensive video library showcasing clinical manifestations, all seamlessly integrated within the electronic structured form.

In 2025, the YIT series will continue with a spring webinar focused on utilising the electronic Genetic CRF. Summer will bring another installment, this time delving into the electronic Histological Case Report Form.

To round out the year, we will be offering a fall webinar on the electronic Magnetic Resonance Imaging CRF.

The YIT series culminates in Spring 2026 with a final webinar unveiling the CoMPaSS-NMD ATLAS. This session will equip students with the knowledge of how to use the ATLAS and explore the benefits it brings to their research endeavors.

The main webinars will be preceded by an introductory session designed to get you up to speed on the project and its core objectives.

In these sessions, we will cover:

  • An introduction to the CoMPass-NMD project and its training program
  • How the program addresses unmet knowledge gaps related to clinical phenotypes and multicenter data aggregation
  • How the program ensures compliance with current data protection legislation

By attending this introductory session, participants will gain a solid foundation for the webinar series and be well-prepared to delve deeper into the topics covered.
